What are your top five fandoms for 2021 based on the amount of time you interacted with them?

  1. Daredevil (TV & comics) - this was probably 90% of my fannish activity, if by activity I mean 'these characters have taken over my brain'

  2. Spider-Man & Fantastic Four comics - I'm lumping these together because I was mostly reading stuff where Johnny and Peter both appear, plus fanfic

  3. Hawkeye comics

  4. The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman - I re-read the first two because for some reason I thought the third was coming out this year. Nope! I remember this torture from the gap between the second and third His Dark Materials books

  5. Flight of the Heron by DK Broster

In your own space, tell us about 3 fandom resources, spaces, or communities you use or enjoy. (One or two is fine, especially if you're in a smaller fandom!) Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Alright then! *opens bookmarks*

  • I haven't been spending much time on DW lately, so I don't know where all the activity is happening, but both [community profile] fandomcalendar and [community profile] fandom_on_dw are great for announcements of challenges, fests, new communities, etc. It's a good place to start if you like creative events.

  • [community profile] recthething is a great place to look for recs or chat about what you've been reading/looking at.

  • Flamebyrd's Bookmarklets - I've only tried a couple of these, but there's lots of useful stuff for making your AO3 experience a bit smoother.

  • Carene Waterman's Bookmarklets - you know that annoying bug that puts extra paragraphs in a fic? The StripEmpties bookmarklet will get rid of them so you can read without ridiculous amounts of scrolling. I use it all the time.

  • The 100 Words Prompt Generator - sometimes I use it when I'm stuck for ideas or just need an excuse to noodle around.

  • [community profile] unconventionalcourtship's Random Pairing Generator, which uses summaries from romance novels but the names of fandom characters

  • I'm not going to include writing advice or we'll be here all day, but there's a special place in my heart for Doris Egan's essay Potato Chips, which is all about unabashedly writing for your id, whatever that might be.
