killclaudio: (I [HEART] Bathroom Stalls)
1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.

2. I respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.

3. You WILL update your LJ with the answers to the questions.

4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.

5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

Either Ray, or Fraser, or both, needs one of these t-shirts. They're brilliant.

And there needs to be fic where Ray buys it for Fraser as a hint gift. And I need to somehow make it into an icon.

Also, LJ? Could you please refresh my flist properly? And give me my fucking comments already. Thank you kindly.

Title: Nothing But Love
Characters: Kowalski/Stella
Rating: PG
Wordcount: just over 1000
Quote: “Friendship is constant in all other things
Save in the offices and affairs of love.” (Much Ado About Nothing)
It’s a very, very loose interpretation of the prompt. Ahem. Sorry.
Notes: Takes place not long after ‘Strange Bedfellows’. With flashbacks.

killclaudio: (Think You're In Love)
My Suspicious River DVD arrived yesterday, nearly four weeks late (WTF Amazon?). So. I have now seen Suspicious River. Um, yay?

When [livejournal.com profile] ultra_chrome posted her wonderful analysis of the movie, I promised her some thoughts. I’m not sure if I have any coherent thoughts, but I’ll try. For those of you who haven’t seen this film, it’s pretty violent and disturbing, and reading this might be at least as disquieting. If you don’t want to know the score, look away now.

Your room was $60. I think company would be worth that. )

I think, I hope, that reading the book might clear up some of my confusion. But the film will bear re-watching, and that’s not a bad thing.

I’ve made some screencaps, for those of you who are only here for the pretty.

Because CKR is still pretty. )
killclaudio: (Genderfuck)
Do you know what I’ve never come across? Genderfuck where both characters are turned into girls. Maybe I just haven’t read enough sex-change fic. But it always seems as though they have sort-of het sex. Where is the F/K femslash? It would be fun! See? Recs would be welcomed!

Snippet of Genderfuck )

But more importantly, do you know what else I’m curious about? What would happen if Ray and Fraser were female before the story started - and it opened with them turning into men? "Benita Fraser and Rachel Kowalski were Chicago’s top-crime fighting duo, a pair of women so phenomenally unstoppable that even the toughest Chicago thugs quailed at the sight of them. And now? Things are about to get infinitely worse."

Because this raises all sorts of gender-related questions. )

My brain hurts now. This may be conclusive proof that I need to shut up and go to bed. Thoughts, anyone?

My second piece for [livejournal.com profile] ds_shakespeare.

Title: Sneezing at the Sun
Characters: Fraser/Kowalski, post-COTW.
Rating: PG
Prompt: “Now is the winter of our discontent.” (Richard III)
Notes: I am hugely indebted to Guy Grieve’s book ‘Call Of The Wild’, which explained a few things to me about life in the north. I tried to put in as much research as possible, but no doubt there will be mistakes with guns and mirages and the alphabet. Feel free to correct me.

There is only one thing to do on a damp Sunday afternoon, and that is watch films. To be specific, 'My Fair Lady' and 'The Merchant of Venice'. How much do I love Jeremy Irons? Thiiiiiiiiiiis much!

I think Fraser would like 'My Fair Lady' )

Also, a question; )
killclaudio: (Victoria Ben Bed)
A meme. Because all the cool kids are doing it.

Comment to this post with the name of a character that I have written in fic from Due South. Because I am boringly mono-fannish, and I've tried to write just about every character in dS, even if I've never finished or posted the story.

I will comment telling you the following:

a. What initially prompted me to like the character enough to write about him/her.
b. One of his/her best traits.
c. One of his/her worst traits.
d. How easy/difficult I find it to write the character.
e. The story/chapter/paragraph/phrase where I feel that I truly captured the character (if, you know, I've ever written him/her).
f. My plans (if any) to write the character in the near future.

I really want someone to ask me about Eric or Victoria. Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on...

My first prompt for [livejournal.com profile] ds_shakespeare. Here, have some (slightly early) weekend porn.

Title: Bang Bang Kiss
Characters: Fraser/Kowalski
Rating: NC-17. Very.
Wordcount:
Quote: Being your slave, what should I do but tend
Upon the hours and times of your desire?
Summary: “Ray started undoing the button on his fly, because there are worse things in this life than jerking off to the sight of Benton Fraser fucking himself on a dildo at the end of your bed.”
Notes: Thank you so much to [livejournal.com profile] tealc_spoo for a truly fabulous beta. She pointed out a few physical impossibilities and is slowly weaning me off my love affair with commas. Any remaining mistakes are mine.
Warnings: Very mild BDSM, dildos, and generalized kink.

Thing The First is a rec; Persephone Lied by [livejournal.com profile] spuffyduds. Did you ever think perhaps Persephone liked it down in Hades? Sheer genius. Not many things leave me speechless, but I think this just might be one of them.

Thing The Second is something odd I noticed while watching Dead Men Don't Throw Rice yesterday. Maybe I'm the last person in the world to notice this? )

Hockey players on the menu. *shakes head*

I wrote a couple of things for the latest [livejournal.com profile] ds_snippets challenge. I, ah, killed someone off in the first one. And then someone is recovering from injury in the second. I'm sorry, I don't know what's the matter with me today.

Prompt: Gun

And now I'm going to do what I was supposed to be doing all along, which was writing my [livejournal.com profile] ds_shakespeare prompts. I will. I swear.

Remember when I said I wasn't going to make any icons with Neil Young lyrics on them?

I lied.

But there are only six! )
killclaudio: (Default)
I keep having random OMG moments when I realise that things I have liked for years are, in fact, Canadian. Today's OMG moment was Neil Young, who I fangirl with embarassing amounts of squee. And (while I'm on the subject) Joni Mitchell is Canadian too! And Denny Doherty from The Mamas & The Papas. So now you know about my taste in music. Yes, some of it is very bad. Tell no-one.

I may or may not have to go through my entire music collection and work out how many of them are Canadian. But even if my only contribution to [livejournal.com profile] c6d_music is my love for Neil Young, that will be enough to bore everyone to tears for evermore. So on second thoughts, maybe I should just shut up now.

I am resisting the urge to make icons with Neil Young lyrics on them. Resisting...so very hard...

[livejournal.com profile] lipstickcat is running a Victoria Day Challenge on her journal on May 21st. I always write fic for these things and I thought this time I would have a go at icons instead.

Ta-dah! Twelve Victoria-related icons, so you can keep loving to hate her, or just love her, if you're so inclined. I'm still struggling to get the kind of clarity I would like from 100x100 pixels. *huffs* Comments would be nice, if you're going to use one. Credit? To be honest, I doubt I'll notice.

ETA: [livejournal.com profile] lipstickat has made the video for me! She is wonderful and adorable and she WINS AT LIFE! You must all go over to her journal and watch it right now. And tell her how wonderful she is. Go!

No, it's not love, sweet love. )

Fanfare, please?

::Trumpet Fanfare::

Ladies and Gentleman, I present to you...[livejournal.com profile] ds_shakespeare!

Because Due South/Shakespeare is my OTP, and because [livejournal.com profile] aingeal8c is as mad as I am, we have set up a new community! The idea is that it will be a fic-writing challenge (and icons, and vids) where all the prompts are Shakespearean quotes.

Fascinated by the parallels between due South and Romeo and Juliet? Think Frannie is a modern-day Titania or Dief a modern Puck? Bring us all you favourite quotes and add them to the prompt post.

We're open to 6 degrees of Due South as well, and I'm really, really hoping we get some lovely Slings & Arrows fic, not that I'm looking at anyone, [livejournal.com profile] bertybertle. ;-)

So come and share your favourite Shakespeare quotes with us. Please?

Now that you're all back from MJ/Easter/whatever, and unpacked...probably...maybe? There are a few things I keep meaning to mention.

Why are you still here?
